Aerospace & AS9100 |
Published by SAE (the Society for Automotive Engineers), AS9100: 2001 is based on ISO 9001:2000 and adds specific requirements that are critical for the aerospace sector. AS9100 results from cooperation between major aerospace corporations, the American Aerospace Quality Group (AAQG) (with input from ANSI-RAB), and the Independent Association of Accredited Registrars (IAAR). |
Regulatory requirements figure as critical functions within this industry. The requirements within AS9100 are complementary to contractual and applicable law and regulations. Those implementing a quality system compliant with AS9100 must ensure that the additional requirements of their customers, regulatory agencies (such as the FAA and the JAA) and local, state and national laws are also referenced within the system's documentation. |
How can the EwQMS® System assist you in the implementation of AS9100? |
Using AQuA
Pro and BOSS, you can manage variation when a "key characteristics" are identified. Keys are features of a material, process or part in which the variation has a significant influence on product fit, performance, service life or manufacturability. AS9100 requires that an organization establish and document a configuration management process. |
Using AQuA Pro and Project Planner you can manage the product realization process and emphasize planning for in-process verification when a product can't be verified at a later point. |
Using AQuA Pro and TPM Pro tooling design can be considered when process control methodology is used to ensure that process data will be captured. |
Using BOSS and Audit Pro, you can manage suppliers throughout the aerospace supply chain. Because the industry is so dependent upon its supply chain, it isn't surprising that AS9100 includes a number of additional expectations for identifying and maintaining suppliers. Supplier approval is just one step in the process of managing suppliers. |
Using the AQuA Pro Portal Project Planner and BOSS you can have real time access to all of your suppliers’ performance records. |
Using Document Pro you can effectively communicate requirements to your suppliers. With the Doc Pro module you can clarify engineering requirements and manage test specimens and right of access to suppliers' facilities. |
